why imurderfairies

Okay, so, maybe its time to explain why I chose the name imurderfairies for most of my social networking sites. At first, I thought the name would've explained itself by now but then my friends started calling me "si pembunuh pari pari". So, maybe its time for an explanation.

You know when you were a little kid and believed in fairy tales? That fantasy of what your life would be. The white dress, the prince charming that would carry you away to the castle on the hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you have complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy, The Sandman and The Prince Charming. They were so close that you could touch them but then eventually, you grow up and one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and other people that they trust. But the thing is, it's hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely cause almost everyone has the smallest bit of hope. Smallest bit of faith, that one day, they will open their eyes and it will come true.

Well, that is a different case. Daddy always taught me to be a realist. Once upon a time, happier ever after. The stories we tell are the stuff of dreams. Fairy tales don't come true. Reality is much stormier. Much murkier. Much scarier. Reality is so much more interesting than living happily ever after.

And frankly, fairy tales have the tendency to make you believe in things you are not supposed to. I remember back hen I was a little girl and I used to read fairy tales. They tell you that when you meet your Prince Charming, he will be everything that you have ever wanted. In fairy tales, the bad guys are easy to spot. They would usually be the disgusting looking with the oh-so-dramatic black cape or something equivalent to it and has this little evil smirk on his face that you can catch easily. But when you grow up, you know what you will realize? Finding Prince Charming, is not gonna be as easy as it seems. You realize the bad guy is not disgusting and wears cliche clothes. In fact, the bad guys are usually funny and he makes you laugh and has the cutest smile and able to sweep you off your feet.

So, back to the title above, why imurderfairies? That name is a constant reminder to myself not to believe in fairy tales. Not to let myself be blinded by the happy ever after that has been made up by other people who had it lucky. It is a reminder that sometimes, your Prince Charming can turn into the jerk. Also, to get ahead in life, you can't just wish or hope that it will work out someday. Hard work will always be needed and the sooner I realize and keep that in mind, the less pain and hurt I would feel.
